Alta Costura Original Formal Wear by Designer Alma Plascencia

Owning an elegant one-of-kind gown made from fine fabric doesn’t have to be just a dream any more. You can look and feel like a princess in an original formal wear created just for you! La Penita professional clothing designer, Alma Plascencia, is in great demand because she is a wizard with fabric. The Women to Women 2020 Fashion Show is proud to showcase Alma’s Alta Costura gowns. .
Alma was born in Las Varas, Nayarit. From an early age she enjoyed dressing up dolls and picking out her own wardrobe. “My grandmother and mother both sewed clothes for the family,” said Alma. “They taught me how to sew when I was in primary school.” She knew that she wanted to sew professionally and took classes to earn her license. Alma initially operated her business out of her home. As the demand for lovely dresses increased Alma opened her own boutique in La Penita where she does fittings and constructs the garments. The creative and hard-working Alma is proud that her business is successful. Alma’s children all help out.  “My son Juan designed my business logo!” Her daughters assist during peak demand times to help meet deadlines. Word of her exceptional gowns has spread and there are various times of the year when the wait time is two months! “I personally hand sew each pearl or other embellishment onto the garment in order to fulfill the customer’s vision.” She has many requests for custom Quinceañera gowns (the 15th birthday celebration that is celebrated like a wedding) as well as year end festive party dresses .
Alma chose to specialize in formal wear because she recognized the need for formal wear and she explains, “I love seeing the excited brides! Knowing that each woman in her special dress is looking her best means a lot. It is such a good feeling for me!”
