Celebrating Giving Through Our Annual Fashion Show
Since 2002, the Women to Women (Mujeres á Mujeres in Spanish) team has organized a fashion show to raise funds for charitable projects which benefit the communities of Rincόn de Guayabitos, La Peñita de Jaltemba, La Colonia and Los Ayala, in the state of Nayarit, Mexico. Originally the brainchild of a group of women golfers, the fashion show has grown into a major charity fundraiser, the largest of its kind in Riviera Nayarit.
Our mission is to raise funds to help the women and children of the Jaltemba Bay area. The majority of the profits are dedicated to Educational Grants for local young women to attend university, however, we also support several other projects including a local Junior High Breakfast Program for students who cannot afford lunch and a Christmas Basket Giveaway to local families in need. In past years, we have donated funds to support the Cancer de Mama Clinic for breast cancer survivors; install a new building, floor and outdoor shade area at three different kinder schools (read more here and here); and install a kitchen at the local Senior Center.
In addition to supporting all these causes, the Women to Women Fashion Show is also an opportunity for local designers to showcase their talents, and for volunteers to model their one-of-a-kind designs. This festive event is enjoyed by hundreds of participants and volunteers each year.
Mona Cavalli, Women to Women Executive Committee Member, sums it all up: “I love any situation that feels like a win-win. Our guests have a delightful afternoon in Mexico while supporting a great cause, the women who volunteer and model have an opportunity to socialize while giving back to the community, and we all get to feel good about ourselves. Of course, it’s a win-win for the designers as well.”
